The 2011 Iron Mash, 10th annual, will be dedicated to Gene Wheelbarger with all of the proceeds going to the family/college fund. The production team is working hard to procure as many donations as possible to minimize our cost. We are adding $10 per team to contribute to the proceeds.
Details of the 2011 Iron Mash:

Brew Day: Rahr Brewery, Sunday October 30 8:00 am set up, ingredients distribution at 9:00 (Pot Luck Lunch)
Awards Ceremony: Weekend of Jan 7, 2012

Registration will open on September 6 on the Cap & Hare Site, www.capandhare.com

Maximum of 24 teams
Cost:
-5g All Grain $40
-5g Extract $50
-10g All Grain $60

Yeast will be provided for like last year.
I will post another reminder when registration opens, this year we expect to sell out quickly and encourage people to consider teams of 3 rather than the 2 in the past. In addition, we have moved to October so it will not be as hot, so we encourage as many as possible to brew All Grain.

How much prickly pear fruit do you need for your mead? I ended up with about 3 gallons worth of fruit before the heat began to get to me.

I will be heading to the deer lease next weekend and while there, I wil get some prickley pear as well and add to the kitty for anyone else who wants some. I will make the mead probably in September. Keep me posted.

Looks like Tuesday is going to be the day that I head up to search for prickly pear. I have not been able to find out from anyone how they look, so I will not know until I get there what I will find. I will let all of you know when I get back if I was able to get some and if so how much I have.
