The Spirit of '76 Challenge is Texas' first homebrew competition to be devoted to lagers and ales of American origin. Sponsored by the Horsemen of the Hopocalypse, the competition seeks to celebrate beer styles that are uniquely American. Our proud country has developed a strong and diverse beer culture, and it deserves to be celebrated and recognized.

Starting in 2011, the So76 Challenge has been held in October in anticipation of Veteran's day. However, the contest was not held 2013. Starting in 2014 we have moved this contest to June in order to align with Independence Day, as well as to hold it within the Lone Star Circuit window. Details can be found below!
